This is a professional IT position in which the incumbent’s main responsibilities involve monitoring and maintaining the operation and stability of our orgainization’s enterprise network, which consists of Cisco, Avaya, Novell NetWare, UNIX, and Windows-based servers. The Network Engineer is responsible for maintenance and administration of Windows Servers and other Windows based software applications. He/she assists other Network Engineer(s) with IT enterprise development, integration of enterprise applications, network security, and system administration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain the operation and stability of core network operating systems;
Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN operational problems and assist with problem determination and resolution;
Provide administration and maintenance functions for Windows Active Directory;
Provide assistance with hardware/software installation and configuration;
Assist in assessing and applying needed OS and application updates, fixes, and patches;
Assist with implementing networked applications and ensuring network security;
Provide complete and accurate documentation as required by our organization’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies;
Assist in the assessment of compatibility of new equipment with current equipment; keep abreast of new software/hardware developments;
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) as well as five years of experience in supporting the acquisition, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of Windows Server and Active Directory residing on a LAN/WAN. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification and/or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training and Experience:
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows servers essential. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience working with virtual technologies (e.g. VMware). Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated experience in setting up remote sites and maintaining a global enterprise. Demonstrated experience leading large projects. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential. Knowledge of various global telecommunications standards (i.e. E1, T1, etc.) and knowledge of system and network security is helpful. Ability to manage shifting priorities and to meet deadlines. Ability to work in a global organization, with nationals from other countries. Ability to understand active directory and provide windows operating system support. Ability to learn new technologies and cross-train and/or be cross-trained as part of IT support team. Ability to interact successfully with all levels of the organization. Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by Manager, Network Technologies.
