Candidate should have direct and current experience with environmental policy issues and the building or product level.   Experience on Capitol Hill.  Ability to travel 1x/month (domestic and international).  Candidate needs to be a strong communicator with the ability to represent Company at senior levels in both government and business.

Responsibilities

-Develops and implements strategies in conjunction with Strategic Business Units (SBUs) in coordination with the VP, Government, Regulatory and Industry Affairs and other Government Affairs staff members.  Systematically identifies, assesses and sizes direct marketing opportunities with federal agencies, and opportunities for our services to supplement or replace those currently performed by the federal government.  Proposes criteria to set priorities for developing opportunities, and presents market research and proposed prioritization criteria back to internal customers for review and feedback.  Prepares and produces brochures and other appropriate materials to convey our competencies to federal officials.

-Facilitates relations between our SBUs and functions with appropriate government and industry officials.  Provides regulatory and industry intelligence gathering, analysis and targeted dissemination to these and other internal customers.  Ensures the SBU marketing materials are appropriately tailored to the federal marketplace.

-Contributes to the fulfillment and enhancement of mission by adding the technical dimension to expertise.  Provides and facilitates safety education to government and industry groups, participates in forums concerned with safety, health and the environment, and facilitates our resources for Congress and other arms of government on safety issues.

-Cultivates and sustains a strong network of contacts in the Executive Branch, including but not limited to: the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Commerce, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security and other agencies and offices that promulgate policy or regulation that impact public and consumer safety and our domestic business interests.

Required Skills 

-University degree in Business Administration, Government Relations or related field plus generally eight years of related experience.  Advanced degree preferred.

-Must possess strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, as well as political and interpersonal savvy.

-Capable of representing our organization at very senior levels of government, business and other organizations

-Thorough familiarity with the legislative and executive branch processes

-Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and excellent customer service

-Demonstrated ability to facilitate or lead meetings, make presentations and organize internal and external coalitions, or other cooperative efforts

-Direct experience working with environmental policy issues at the building or product level
