This position leads the process optimization team that is responsible for the NA Process Optimization (PO) Initiative and will also provide expert engineering and consulting services to the Manufacturing Community. This group drives improvements under one of the key pillars of the New Operational eXcellence (OpX) Journey across North American Manufacturing Sites. The team is made up of highly qualified and experienced experts, capable of leading and facilitating complex plant improvement projects and optimization workshops. This position must stay abreast of world-class process improvement processes and cutting-edge systems to maintain competitive advantage for the NA sites. Must be able to adapt these processes to successfully achieve real-world improvements. The position will coordinate PO workshops and other OpX activities with the NA site managers, the OpX managers, the Automation Manager, the Energy Specialists and others, and is directly responsible for the day-to-day work assignments and activities of the group, providing technical support and guidance as needed. The manager will be responsible for the effective execution of the PO Initiative. The manager will also provide updates to the Manufacturing Community Steering Committee and will serve as the primary NA liaison with the SE consultancy group, ZZC/E, regarding the PO process.

Required:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering. Course study towards an advanced degree is strongly encouraged. We recognize institutions of higher education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
At least 15+ years experience as a Process Design Engineer and/or Operations Engineer. The individual must have:
ability to manage a self-directed, experienced and highly qualified team of experts,
very strong project management, organizational and client relationship skills,
knowledge of a wide variety of chemical production processes,
a strong technical knowledge in the fundamentals of unit operations design and sizing calculations, such as (batch) reactors, distillation towers, heat exchangers and extraction systems,
theoretical know-how and practical experience in troubleshooting plant problems and optimizing plant performance,
a basic knowledge of plant process control and advanced process control techniques and how they can be applied to monitor, control and / or improve plant performance,
strong interpersonal, communication, administrative, personal motivation and personal adaptability skills,
continuing “state of the art” advanced course work.
Desired:
- Experience in the use of Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) applications, including AspenPlus.
- Demonstrated work experience implementing projects in the Refining or Petrochemicals industry.
- Knowledge of PIMS (ASPEN InfoPlus21)
- Experience facilitating optimization processes, such as Six Sigma.
- Experience with Design of Experiments, Material and Information Flow Analysis, Lean Manufacturing, and other optimization tools.
- Knowledge of company Ecology, Health and Safety Standards.
- Knowledge of the company’s project development process
