<p>Location: Michigan - Grand Rapids</p>
<p><strong>Ideal Candidate</strong>:</p>
<p>10+ to 15 years of experience<br />
Management Experience Required &#8211; No<br />
Minimum Education &#8211; Bachelor&#8217;s Degree</p>
<p>This position will lead the development of electric motor solutions through in-house design and development and through external customers.</p>
<p>Provide technical leadership and oversight for new product development of ac and dc motors.</p>
<p>The person will plan concurrent development programs for several motors, including in-house and external development.</p>
<p>Manage and control requirements using a requirements management tool such as DOORS.</p>
<p>Perform mechanical, electrical and magnetic design and analysis using engineering CAD tools to meet function, performance and environmental requirements.</p>
<p>Develop motor design specifications, verification specifications and test equipment specifications.</p>
<p>Apply engineering processes and standards throughout the development process.</p>
<p>Work with multi-disciplinary development teams including offshore resources.</p>
<p>Manage assigned projects to schedule and budget.</p>
<p>- Provide technical oversight to suppliers and offshore resources.</p>
<p>- Develop fractional horse-power to 30+ horse-power brushed and brushless dc motors, permanent magnet synchronous machines, ac induction and switched reluctance motors depending upon requirements of the application.</p>
<p>- Lead cost-out efforts. Manage full cycle development of motors from requirements through qualification and in-service support.</p>
<p><strong>Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements:</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>- Qualified candidates will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or BSEE.</p>
<p>- MSME or MSEE preferred with minimum of 10 years experience in designing and developing motors.</p>
<p>- Qualifications in related technical disciplines such as physics will also be considered.</p>
<p>Candidates will have hands-on domain expertise in at least 5 of the following:</p>
<p>- Brushed dc motor design</p>
<p>- Brushless dc motor design</p>
<p>- AC induction motor design</p>
<p>- AC switched reluctance motor design</p>
<p>- Permanent magnet synchronous machine design</p>
<p>- Supplier development</p>
<p>- Mechanical design for motors including thermal and stress analysis</p>
<p>- Design to cost</p>
<p>- GD&amp;T</p>
<p>- Verification and Qualification testing</p>
<p>Experience in 5 of the following:</p>
