<p><strong>Purpose of the Job</strong></p>
<p>Supervise maintenance activities directly or through subordinates, as necessary, to accomplish objectives in the most safe, economical and technically feasible fashion.</p>
<p>Continually monitor and modify departmental goals to insure compatibility with corporate goals and objectives.  Direct all reliability engineering, scheduling and maintenance activities in such a manner that corporate goals are attained in both the short and long-term.</p>
<p><strong>Principal Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>Insure that all maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner. Support and adhere to the principles of the American Chemistry Council&#8217;s Responsible Care(r), OSHA VPP and EPA Performance Track initiatives by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors.</p>
<p> Review, monitor and modify maintenance methods, practices, systems and organization to maximize contribution to profitability.</p>
<p>Review, monitor and take the necessary action to make the people in the department capable of joint performance, to make their strengths effective and their weaknesses irrelevant.</p>
<p>Provide an example of leadership that is consistent with the common objectives and values throughout the organization.</p>
<p>Provide an atmosphere that allows each individual in the department and the department itself to grow and develop as needs and opportunities change.</p>
<p> Establish and maintain a communication system that ensures employees are aware of business objectives and conditions and allows each team member to know what is needed from others &#8211; and make sure that others know what is expected of them.</p>
<p> Establish the performance standards for reliability engineering and maintenance utilizing KPI&#8217;s, develop the method of measurement and provide timely and routine feedback to those responsible for the performance.</p>
<p> Maintain open and frequent communications with the customers of Maintenance to insure they are satisfied with the service.</p>
<p> Exercise financial planning and control for the maintenance cost by generating annual budgets, controlling labor and materials usage, maximizing overall productivity and reviewing variances to budget on a monthly basis in order to provide maintenance service at the lowest possible total cost.</p>
<p>Ensure that ongoing proficiency training is conducted to improve skills and to keep current with technology.  Ensure that adequate funding and staffing are requested to meet maintenance requirements.</p>
<p> Troubleshoot quality and process problems in collaboration with production engineers, process engineers, quality engineers, and others to ensure that all aspects of equipment operation and maintenance are managed.</p>
<p><strong>Nature and Scope</strong> -</p>
<p>-         Work environment (extent of interaction with Supervisor(s) for approval, concurrence, resolution, etc.):</p>
<p>Approve expense expenditures, determine appropriate discipline in concert with HR and administer as required, improve work practices, and allocation of approved resources.  Careful planning, forecasting and scheduling is required to minimize interruptions to operations, which could cause considerable loss of production, time and cost.</p>
<p>-         Business environment (economic or technological conditions dealt with on a regular basis):</p>
<p>-         Must increase departmental effectiveness when essential resources are delayed or denied; limited budget.</p>
<p>-         The process problems include dealing with the technical difficulties of corrosive and hazardous chemicals and operating temperatures up to 2400°F.</p>
<p>  -         Internal and external relationships (nature and frequency):</p>
<p> Inside:  Other departments routinely e.g., Production, Purchasing, Human Resources, Accounting, Purchasing, Project Engineering, Technical Service Center.</p>
<p>Outside:  Consultants for training, engineering, and organizational development; government organizations for inspections; contractors for maintenance services.</p>
<p> Supervises 8 to 10 PMU and 10-15 through other direct reports</p>
<p><strong>Knowledge and Experience</strong></p>
<p>Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial.  Science or Business degrees may be considered depending on associated experience.  Working knowledge of functions and design of plant equipment, process and products; methods development and procedures; industrial and personnel administration; labor relations; repair maintenance of machinery and equipment; ability to prepare, administer, and monitor departmental budgets.  </p>
<p>3 to 9 years technical experience in Chemical industry and strong exposure to maintenance principles and practices.  The candidate will have demonstrated success in positions of increasing supervisory responsibilities.</p>

<p>The Reliability engineer will provide reliability support to the site by developing and implementing reliability engineering systems. The position will be responsible for implementing Reliability methodologies like RBI, RCM, RCA and other reliability-based maintenance engineering principles and practices. The position develops and oversees the implementation of a comprehensive multi-year &#8220;Reliability Plan&#8221;.<br />
Principal Responsibilities:.<br />
-         Planning and coordinating the activities associated with the maintenance of equipment to improve plant and equipment availability and efficiency in support of site production requirements.<br />
Providing Technical and Management support (Maintenance) to plant emergency needs as required.<br />
Providing technical support and leadership solving specific production issues in an integrated cross-functional team environment.<br />
Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.<br />
Advising the Maintenance Department on preventive maintenance requirements and practices. Lead overhauls and repairs of major machinery.<br />
Instructing maintenance technicians on principles and standards.<br />
Assist in managing the site Mechanical Integrity program<br />
Monitor new tools and technology available in the maintenance marketplace.<br />
-         Assist in the department&#8217;s adherence to any Lean Manufacturing objectives.<br />
-         Provide technical assistance to support all site maintenance activities.<br />
-         Monitor reliability performance of different operational units.<br />
-         Analyze the reasons for equipment failure and lead Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root cause Analysis (RCA) efforts. Participate in reliability related incident investigations; prioritize action items, and follow-up on their implementation.<br />
-         Continued development of a multi-year reliability improvement plan, this plan will include the development and execution of capital and expense projects for various operating units at the Site.<br />
-         Provide continuous improvement to the yearly maintenance plan (preventive, predictive) and monitor its execution.<br />
-         Ensure lessons learned, best practices, action items of reliability incidents are communicated and incorporated in the design of new projects and new technical specifications.<br />
-         Complete as required monthly reporting.<br />
-         Act as primary focal point for reliability related work groups.<br />
-         Interface with all Site plant operations maintenance, engineering and research personnel as necessary.<br />
-         Maintain all maintenance records and files for the analysis and reporting of all maintenance-related business matters. <br />
-         Originate and develop analysis methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes.<br />
-         Work with maintenance planner/scheduler to ensure maintenance and reliability issues are addressed correctly and efficiently.<br />
-         Identify areas of cost reduction, and prepare preventative Maintenance requirements for new and existing equipment.<br />
-         Backup for Maintenance Planner/Scheduler and Maintenance Manager.<br />
-         Assist Engineering in the preparation of spare parts and PM Lists for new equipment.<br />
Development and management of a &#8220;bad actor&#8221; program for the plant.<br />
Development of new/replacement equipment specifications for &#8220;bad actor&#8221; pieces of equipment.<br />
-         Active support of all EH&amp;S policies and procedures<br />

Education:             <br />
Required knowledge obtained through completion of a course of study leading to a BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 7+ years of Maintenance/Reliability experience in the chemical Industry.<br />
-         Proven computer skills; work will be planned using CMMS systems (SAP)<br />
-         Must have a sound technical knowledge of instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical equipment.<br />
-        Must have a general understanding of industrial maintenance procedures including work planning, PM, repair parts acquisition, and budget control<br />
-        Must be capable of making business decisions based upon situation analysis and resources available<br />
-        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal<br />
-        Able to work in a team environment.<br />
-        Experience in development and implementation of Reliability Engineering systems.<br />
-        High level of understanding of critical maintenance activities, i.e. static and rotating mechanical equipment repairs.<br />
-        Must be able to work in a diverse environment &#8211; working closely with mechanics, operators, engineers, and management to solve problems and address systemic issues related to mechanical equipment reliability.</p>
